Time Tracking – Flexible to Suit Your Needs


I've equipped Evolve Tracking with two different tracking methods, giving you complete freedom to document your time in the way that works best for you:

Live Tracking: Start the timer with a single click while you work. Perfect for focused work sessions – the timer runs discreetly in the background, precisely capturing every minute.

Manual Entry: Enter start and end times retroactively. Ideal for forgotten timer starts, offline work, or when you want to summarize your time at the end of the day.

This way, Evolve Tracking adapts to your working rhythm. Switch seamlessly between both methods at any time, depending on what best suits your workflow.



Starting the Timer

Click on the Evolve Tracking icon in the menu bar and select the necessary information: client, project, and task. The intelligent popup window offers the following options:

For Quick Starters: Select existing entries directly from the overview list on the right – one click is all it takes.

For Keyboard Enthusiasts: Simply start typing and use the auto-completion feature. The first few letters are often enough to find the right entry. Use the Return key to accept the suggestion.

Create New Entries Instantly: No existing entry for your input? No problem! Press Return and the new client, project, or task will be created immediately – without having to navigate through other menus.


Tip
- The current timer stops as soon as you start a new timer (unless you're using the 'Parallel Timers' function).
- Active timers survive restarts of the app as well as the computer and keep on running until they are stopped through the app.




Multitasking Made Easy with Parallel Timers

In reality, as a freelancer, you often juggle multiple projects simultaneously. That's exactly why I developed the "Parallel Timers" function. Simply activate this powerful option in the settings and track multiple activities simultaneously – perfect for when you're filling waiting time on one project with work on another.

You can activate the "Parallel Timers" option in the app settings. This allows you to run multiple timers simultaneously.

Tracking Time Retroactively – Nothing Gets Lost

In real life, things don't always go according to plan. Perhaps you were working at a client's site, were offline, or simply forgot to start the timer. No problem!

With the retroactive tracking function in Evolve Tracking, you can record your working hours at any time. Simply enter the start and end times, assign them to the appropriate project, and your valuable working time is documented.

This way, not a minute is lost – whether you forgot to start the timer or deliberately worked without live tracking. Especially useful for meetings, phone calls, or on-site work at a client's location.

To add time entries retroactively, navigate to the time tracking section in the app. In the bottom bar, you'll find options to add and remove time entries.

With one click on "Add Time," the familiar popup window opens – the same one you already know from live tracking. The only difference: Instead of starting a timer, you select the "Add Time" section and enter the start and end times for the period you want to document.

This gives you complete control over your time tracking and ensures that even after the fact, every working hour is correctly recorded and billed.
